The Open Academy Ltd, hereby referred to as “The Open Academy Ltd”, “The Company”, “The Site”, “The Administrators”, “we”, “us” or “ours” is a company founded in 2013 and based in London, Great Britain. The Company owns and operates a public website which can be accessed at the domain http://www.theopenacademy.com. The Open Academy provides online multimedia video services, hosting of portable document formatted files and user interaction through forums and video comments, containing academic courses, classroom lecture videos, assignments, problem sets and examinations associated with different academic disciplines, all of which will be hereby collectively referred to as “Content and Services”. The Open Academy Ltd Terms and Conditions serves as an agreement between the users of the site hereby referred to as “Visitors” or “Users”, and the Partnership, with the goal of establishing a legalized framework and an enjoyable experience for our Visitors. All Users of the site, including both registered (“Members”) and unregistered Visitors, are accepting The Open Academy Ltd Terms and Conditions by using the Site’s services or visiting the Site. Any alteration to the Terms and Conditions is going to be updated on this page and users are automatically bounded by any new Terms posted here forth. It is therefore recommended that you visit this page often to be fully aware of any such alterations to the Terms.


The Content and Services hosted in the Site is brought together from various sources in the World Wide Web, including academic institution websites, other academic websites and video hosting companies. All content on the Site is protected by The Open Academy Ltd copyright, third party content providers and appropriate Creative Commons Licenses. As a User of The Open Academy, you may not modify, publish, transmit, participate in the transfer or sale of, reproduce, create derivative works of, distribute, publicly perform, publicly display, or in any way exploit any of the content on The Open Academy in whole or in part outside of the specific usage rights granted to you by each license. Users of the Site have the option to register for an Open Academy account. The following Terms are applicable to users registered for an account, in addition to the rest of the Terms outlined in this page.
All registration information you submit must be accurate and updated. Please keep your password confidential. You will not have to reveal it to any representative of the Site. You are responsible for all use on your account, including unauthorized use by any third party. Therefore, it is critical that you do not share your password with anyone. Please notify us at accounts [at] theopenacademy [dot] com as soon as you know of, or suspect any unauthorized use of your account. Please also make sure to notify us if your registration information changes, in case we need to contact you.
You may terminate your account by emailing accounts [at] theopenacademy [dot] com at any time. Please identify your account and provide a valid reply email address in the event we require additional information to terminate your account.
We reserve the right to immediately terminate your account or your use of The Open Academy Content and Services at any time without notice or liability if the Administrators of the Site determine in their sole discretion that you have breached the Terms and Conditions, violated any law, rule, or regulation, or engaged in other inappropriate conduct.


The Embedding Feature allows Registered Users to use the videos hosted in The Open Academy in their own webpages, using the servers and bandwidth of The Open Academy for any potential activity sourced from their websites. The use of the Embedding Feature is subject to full agreement with the following Terms.
Firstly, the Registered User who uses the Embedding Feature can only copy the HTML code presented after clicking on the "embed" link below the target video and paste the code unaltered to the web page of interest, or any other Internet location of interest for that matter. The video will be presented with The Open Academy logos and other identification materials. The Open Academy reserves the right to delete, block or suspend any embedded videos used in other websites for which any alterations to the HTML code have been made.
Secondly, Registered Users who use the embedding feature are fully responsible for showing the appropriate licenses and complying entirely with the appropriate copyright and intellectual property laws associated with each video that is being embedded. The Open Academy Ltd and its Administrators cannot be held liable for any damage made by inappropriate use of the videos hosted in the Site by Registered Users who use the Embedding Feature and do not claim ownership of any of the content in the Site. The Registered User that makes use of the Embedding Feature is then fully liable for any damage made by not fully complying with the appropriate laws and licenses.
Thirdly, The Open Academy Ltd and its Administrators reserves the right to suspend, block, delete or completely ban from the Site and the use of its Content and Services, including the Embedding Feature, any Registered User that the Partnership decides not to be complying with these Terms and any embedded content that the Partnership decides to be inappropriately used in other websites or locations or any other use of the Feature that the Site and its Administrators decide to flag as inappropriate conduct.


If you believe that any of the Site’s Content and Services as defined above violates your copyright or other intellectual property, please follow the procedure outlined below.
We will process each notice of alleged infringement which The Open Academy Ltd receives and take appropriate action in accordance with applicable intellectual property laws. A notification of claimed copyright infringement should be emailed to compliance [at] theopenacademy [dot] com with the heading “Take Down Notice”.
To be effective, the notification must be in writing and contain the following information: (a) an electronic or physical signature of the person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the copyright interest; (b) a description of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed; (c) a description of where the material that you claim is infringing is located on The Open Academy Site that is reasonably sufficient to enable the Administrators to identify and locate the material; (d) how The Open Academy can contact you, such as your address, telephone number, and email address; (e) a written statement by you that you have a good faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and (f) a statement by you, made under penalty of perjury, that the above information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the copyright owner's behalf.
